Malang, August 11, 2026 — The Master of Informatics Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, held a 2026 Curriculum Benchmarking event on Tuesday (11/8/2026). The activity was conducted in a hybrid format—both in-person and online via Zoom Meeting—featuring a key speaker from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The event featured Dr. Dwi Pebrianti, Ph.D., SMIEEE, EPE (IPU) as the resource person. Her presence provided strategic perspectives, drawn from her background in both the industrial sector and higher education. This dual experience as both a practitioner and an educator added significant value, offering key insights into graduate competency needs, technological advances, and how higher education institutions can respond to professional demands through curriculum development.

The event was attended by faculty members, alumni, students, and stakeholders of the  Master of Informatics Study Program. The involvement of these diverse parties is expected to provide a comprehensive perspective in the process of drafting and refining the 2026 Master of Informatics Curriculum.

During the benchmarking session, various perspectives on the alignment between industry needs, advancements in informatics, and higher education delivery served as vital input for curriculum development. A practitioner’s perspective ensures that the competencies outlined in the curriculum remain relevant to job market needs, while an educator’s perspective strengthens learning frameworks, academic progress, and graduate competency achievements.

As such, benchmarking is not merely focused on comparing curriculum structures, but also serves as a forum to examine how curricula can bridge academic and industrial requirements. This has become increasingly critical amid rapid advancements in digital technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and swiftly evolving skill demands.

Head Master of Informatics Study Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Muhammad Faisal, S.Kom., M.T., stated that involving both practitioners and educators in the benchmarking process provides strategic value for refining the 2026 Curriculum.

Exchanging experiences with international academics and practitioners is expected to inspire the creation of a curriculum that is superior, relevant, adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive.

Through this benchmarking effort, the Master of Informatics Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang continues to reinforce its commitment to continuous improvement in educational delivery. Feedback from speakers, faculty, alumni, students, and stakeholders will form an essential component of the 2026 Curriculum refinement process.
